The Medical City (TMC) introduces Emprint™ Microwave Ablation (MWA), a new technology that destroys tumors using heat generated by microwave energy. The MWA machine was acquired by TMC in January 2017. To date, TMC has done several MWA cases for liver, lung and kidney cancers. The advantages of MWA over other ablative techniques include the ability to treat larger tumors, faster procedure times, expanded treatment areas including areas close to major arteries and veins, shorter hospital stays and lower recurrence rates.
